Have you ever heard of Gobi desert? or know where exactly is it?

The Gobi desert is 5th largest desert in the world also known as the coldest. The Gobi is a Mongolian word that means a place with less plant vegetation and sandy soil. Due to less vegetation, there are not many animals. However Mongolian nomads make this harsh environment a thriving place to live for humans and animals. Nonetheless, the Gobi desert is one of the most beautiful destinations in Mongolia. Last year Japanese TV series “Vivant”  filmed most of its scenes in Mongolia and more specifically in the Mongolia Gobi desert.

However, gobi does not only mean just a desert and emptiness. The Gobi is more than that, actually, it is a lively place with lots going on a day-to-day basis. For example, the Gobi desert is home to the 250,000 Bactrian camel population in the world. Bactrian camel differs from others by it is two humps.

Also, the natural wonders of Gobi are not limited by only deserts, there are lots to explore. There are amazing destinations like “Yoli am Gorge” or Lamergier Valley where the narrow steep rocky mountain tops cover the sunlight in the valley which makes ice fields during the hot mid-summer in the Gobi desert. Another well-known destination is Bayanzag or Flamming Cliff is where dinosaur fossilized eggs first found on world history. It is also a great place to gaze at mesmerizing sunsets. Thirdly great Khongor sand dunes extend 180 kilometers along the Gobi desert and some peaks reach 80 to 300 meters tall. Next to the Khongor sand dune, there is the Gobi Oasis Khongor River flows along.
