Spring is the busiest time for Mongolians. Nauryz Celebration
Nauryz is a Kazakh ethnic New Year celebration. Nauriz means new life and celebration continues throughout the entire March. Kazakhs will prepare a load of meals, the more generous the celebration of Nauryz, the happier the year would be. This is one of the man celebrations in Mongolia since there are more than 100,000 Kazakh people celebrating every year.
Thousand Camel festival
Since 1997 Mongolians are celebrating The Mongolian Camel Festival in South Gobi to spread awareness, protect and increase the two-humped Bactrian camel population. The festival helps the nomads to exchange experiences, increase the benefit of camels, improve locals’ participation in the natural protection and recovery, introduce the camel herder Gobi desert nomads’ culture internationally. Festival held on the first weekend of March every year and now the festival is one of the biggest festivals in Mongolia.
When you visit the festival you can enjoy traditional music, costume competitions, dancing, and camel racing also with the beauty of the Mongolian Gobi.
Eagle festival in Ulaanbaatar
Nauryiz Eagle festival is one of the Eagle festivals which takes place in Ulaanbaatar city in March. The Festival takes place only 25km from Ulaanbaatar city, so during the time of your trip if you happen to be in Ulaanbaatar this would be a great chance to explore great eagle hunting culture.
Enjoy the Eagle festival while watching such as the entrants compete for awards of Best Turned Out Eagle and Owner, Best Eagle at Hunting Prey, and Best Eagle at locating its owner from a distance.
