Mongolian camels have two humps which makes them easier to ride and comfortable. These two-humped camels are also known as Bactrian camels, and live in wildlife in Mongolia, China, and several other central Asian countries.

According to the Mongolian Statistical Information Center, 472 thousand camels are registered nationwide in 2020. But these numbers are excluding wild Bactrian camels which are considered extremely endangered species and only live in Mongolia gobi and Chinese Inner Mongolia. The exact numbers of Bactrian camels are uncertain however approximately 1400 live in these regions.

How does it feel when you ride a camel?

There is a famous Mongolian phrase which says “The sun is closer when you are mounted on a camel” which represents that the camel is the tallest animal in Mongolia for millennia. Camel’s fur, dairy, and meat are known for their best quality. Predominantly nomads in the Gobi regions raise camels due to their durability in extreme cold and hot temperatures. Camel riding is a pleasant experience when you are well prepared. Imagine that you are traveling across the silk road on a camel along the Mongolian Gobi.
