Tour itinerary

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. You’ll be greeted at the airport and escorted to your hotel. Take a city tour depending on arrival time.

On the first day, we will take a tour of the 40 meters tall Chinggis Khaan equestrian statue which is the tallest equestrian statue in the world.  Drive to Terelj national park, visit Turtle rock which is the symbol of the national park. Then we will visit the Ariyapala meditation temple. From the temple, you can enjoy a full panoramic view of the Terelj national park.

Meet a driver in the hotel and he will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Dalanzadgad. After landing in Dalanzadgad meet your local guide and driver and visit Yolyn Am – Ride a horse to a wonderfully picturesque place surrounded by sheer rocky walls, forming incredible canyons. This area is located in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park that encompasses the “Three Beauties” peaks and the most easterly points of the Altai Mountains.

Drive to Khongor sand dunes. These are Mongolia’s largest sand dunes, reaching a height of 300 meters in some areas. You will be riding on a camel to explore the Khongor sand dunes area. The two-humped Bactrian camels are very comfortable to ride as they walk slowly and gently, and you will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably in between them. Our camel guide will lead you safely through the sand dunes. Plus, you will have an opportunity to visit a camel herdsman family to experience their lifestyle, culture, and traditions. The sand dunes change color with each hour of the day, from yellow to silver to rose color (at sunrise or sunset).

Drive to Bayanzag, (known as Flaming Cliffs where the first nest of dinosaur eggs was ever discovered in 1922) a site famous for the remains of the Dinosaurs who lived there 60 million years ago. What a chance to walk around where the Dinosaurs once roamed and also get to know saxaul trees and other classic desert vegetation! In the evening, photoshoot flaming cliffs and watch a documentary about this wonderful place.

Drive to Ongi Temple ruins where a thousand lamas had lived. This is a ruin of a big monastery Bari Yonzon Hamba on the bank of Ongi River. Ongi Temple once was one of the biggest temples in Mongolia but was destroyed by The Stalinist repression in the 1930s.

Drive to the Kharkorum, the symbolic ruins of the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. After lunch Visit Erdene-Zuu, the oldest monastery, with 108 stupas, built-in 1586. Then visit Karakorum museum and see The Great Mongol state period, Stone age, Bronze age, Ancient state period halls

Drive to Tsenkher hot springs. Arrive at Tsenkher hot springs, where you can lounge in the hot springs of the camp.

The real fun begins today. After breakfast, drive to a nomad family where you have an opportunity to experience the real nomadic culture and their lifestyle. Live like a Mongolian Nomad for a day! 

At lunch, you will have an authentic Mongolian barbecue, prepared in the traditional style with hot stones. After lunch, you will ride a horse and learn interesting skills such as herding sheep, milking goats, and wearing deel (national costume). Be taught, how to play different kinds of Mongolian Traditional ankle bone games. In the evening, we will start a traditional cooking class with nomads on our own under the instruction of the hostess. Those are some of the unforgettable highlights of this tour.

Drive to Murun town, the capital of Khuvsgul province Take a city tour including a local market & a local museum. Chance to observe local’s part of everyday life at the market. Visit a fantastic historical area including 2-3m high deer stone in Uushgi uvur. Drive to Huvsgul Lake, the deepest and purest lake in Mongolia. You will have 2 days for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful lake at the end of your tour. After lunch, hike around the surrounding forest mountains to have a better look at the crystal blue lake. Taking photos and exploring and enjoying the wildlife, flora & fauna of the Huvsgul lake area. Optional kayaking activity is available. 

After breakfast, take boat trip to local Tsaatan people and their reindeer. Reindeer are herded for their antlers, a lucrative medicinal material as well as for their milk and meat. You have a chance to take your memorable photos with the reindeer. Come back to the camp to have a lunch.

In the evening, farewell bonfire and share your feedback of the tour with your group members.

Drive back to Murun for your return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Visit the largest horseman statue of the world, Chinggis Khaan Statue, and drive to Terelj national park which is famous for its wonderful rock formations. Explore the Turtle Rock.

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and city sightseeing tour including shopping centers for souvenirs and cashmere. In the evening, you will enjoy a live performance of Mongolian National folklore.

After breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport.

3. Upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar, our driver will pick you up from the airport or train station and take you to your hotel. On this day depending on your arrival time city tour is available. And the last day of your tour our driver will take you to the airport, and a city tour is not included.

4. A single supplement is available if you want to use a room just for yourself. If you want a single supplement please make an inquiry with our booking manager. The single supplement is 70$ per night.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Zürich, Switzerland

We’ll meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.

Day 2Zürich–Biel/Bienne–Neuchâtel–Geneva

Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.

Day 3Enchanting Engelberg

Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.

Day 4Interlaken Area. Excursion to The Jungfrau Massif

An unforgettable trip to the high Alpine wonderland of ice and snow is the true highlight of a visit to Switzerland. Globus Local Favorite At an amazing 11,332 feet, the JUNGFRAUJOCH is Europe’s highest railway station. Jungfrau’s 13,642-foot summit was first ascended in 1811 and in 1912 the rack railway was opened. There are lots of things to do here: enjoy the ALPINE SENSATION, THE PANORAMA 360° EXPERIENCE, and the ICE PALACE. Also receive your JUNGFRAU PASSPORT as a souvenir to take home with you. The round trip to the “Top of Europe” by MOUNTAIN TRAIN will take most of the day.

Day 5Lake Geneva and Château de Chillon

It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.
