Tour itinerary

On the first day of your trip, our guide and driver will pick you up from the airport or hotel, and start with a short city tour, giving an introduction to Mongolia.  

 

After breakfast, we will drive to the Kharkorum the ancient capital of the Great Mongolian empire. Once arriving in the Karkhorin city, firstly we will visit the Kharkhorin museum to see exhibitions from The Great Mongol state period, Stone age, Bronze age, even the Ancient state period. After lunch, we will visit Erdene-Zuu, the oldest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, with 108 stupas, which were built in the 16th century. The Erdene Zuu monastery was built on ruins of ancient  Kharkhorin city, so you still can see some remains from the 13th century.

Today we will visit Orkhon Waterfall or Ulaantsutgalan as locals call. While driving to the north, to the Orkhon valley. The landscape changes dramatically from semi-desert into forest-steppe. Orkhon waterfall is one of the best sights in central Mongolia with its surroundings and the beauty of the waterfall itself falls from 24m high. The Waterfall is also part of the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape that was registered under UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2004.

Today we will ride on horseback through the beautiful Eight lake valley. The lakes are hidden gems in the heart of the Khangai range, covered and protected by subalpine mountain meadows and coniferous forests of Siberian pine, larch.

We will continue to explore the Naiman lake area. The Naiman Lake area was formed by a volcanic eruption in the late Neogene era. You can see the lava rocks in the flat areas and barren mountains. With the minerals scattered around by volcanoes, the lake area is very fertile, and therefore rich with wildlife.

We will continue the horseback adventure through the Naiman lakes. Enjoy the panoramic view of the lakes.

After breakfast, you will visit Tsenkher hot springs. Arrive at Tsenkher hot springs, where you can lounge in the hot springs of the camp. This day is just for you to relieve your tired body from a long journey.

After breakfast, we will start our tour to Elsentasarkhai mini sand dunes. Elsentasarkhai is a unique area of forest and sand dunes, oasis, and more. You also can ride a two-humped camel through the sand dunes. Later, we will visit a local nomadic family and learn to live as Mongolian nomadic. You will have first-hand experience of milking herds and nomadic daily chores.

Today we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar city and will do some shopping and sightseeing. In the evening we will watch a folklore performance and have a nice dinner.

1.Travelers are required to have proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 either, recovery or a negative COVID-19 test certification or any kind of valid documents. Children aged 6-17 must present. 

  • Proof of vaccination status (for children who are eligible); or
  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or lateral flow) conducted no more than 72 hours before your tour; or
  • Proof of recovery from COVID-19 (a medical clearance certificate from a medical professional) dated no more than 9 months before your tour.  

3. Upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar, our driver will pick you up from the airport or train station and take you to your hotel. On this day depending on your arrival time city tour is available. And the last day of your tour our driver will take you to the airport, and a city tour is not included.

4. A single supplement is available if you want to use a room just for yourself. If you want a single supplement please make an inquiry with our booking manager. The single supplement is 70$ per night.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Zürich, Switzerland

We’ll meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.

Day 2Zürich–Biel/Bienne–Neuchâtel–Geneva

Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.

Day 3Enchanting Engelberg

Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.

Day 4Interlaken Area. Excursion to The Jungfrau Massif

An unforgettable trip to the high Alpine wonderland of ice and snow is the true highlight of a visit to Switzerland. Globus Local Favorite At an amazing 11,332 feet, the JUNGFRAUJOCH is Europe’s highest railway station. Jungfrau’s 13,642-foot summit was first ascended in 1811 and in 1912 the rack railway was opened. There are lots of things to do here: enjoy the ALPINE SENSATION, THE PANORAMA 360° EXPERIENCE, and the ICE PALACE. Also receive your JUNGFRAU PASSPORT as a souvenir to take home with you. The round trip to the “Top of Europe” by MOUNTAIN TRAIN will take most of the day.

Day 5Lake Geneva and Château de Chillon

It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.
