Overview
The one and only festival that celebrates Bacterian Camel in the world is – Thousands camel festival Mongolia. The festival has been held on the first weekend of March every year in South Gobi province, Bulgan soum. If you are interested in Mongolian nomad culture, and camels this is the one for you. The Festival continues for 2 days and during those two days, you will have a chance to watch camel polo, camel racing, best costume competition, folklore concerts and more. It is also a big opportunity to visit Mongolian Gobi before the high tourism season in summer.

Tour itinerary
On the first day of our trip, we will start driving to Dalanzadgad city early morning. There are no domestic flights to Dalanzadgad during this time of the year we will drive around 500kms to reach the city. Once reach the Dalanzadgad we will check it to a local hotel and do some short city tour.

Today we will drive to Khongor sand dunes or singing dunes. Khongor sand dunes are the biggest sand dunes in Mongolia, reaching a height of 300 meters. Climbing up to the Khongor sand dunes might be tiring, but once you get to the top you can enjoy the whole scenery, and all hardships that you faced while climbing up will be replaced by the mesmerizing views.
Tips: It is better to climb barefooted, and keep your phone and camera in a safe bag to protect from the sand. Do not forget to bring some water. The best time to climb up to the sand dunes is sunrise or sunset.
Plus, to make your Gobi desert experience even more unique, we will ride on a Mongolian camel near the sand dunes.

After breakfast, we will drive to Bayanzag, Bulgan soum where the Festival will be held. Drive will take 3 hours and once reach there we will enjoy to the opening of the Thousand camel festival which starts with camel parade. The festival will continue with a folklore concert and competition of the best-looking couple on camelback. There will be art and photo exhibitions of Mongolian camel culture as well as nature photography.
Then we will visit the Flaming cliff or Bayanzag national park. You can enjoy walking around the same place as 60 million years ago dinosaurs were roaming around. You may have a chance you can discover dinosaur fossils if you look for them thoroughly.

The second day of the Thousand camel festival will start with the race of camels separated in their age categories. After the camel race, you can enjoy the cultural shows which demonstrate how Mongolians train their camels, how they load the whole ger or yurt on the camel, etc. After the festival we will drive to Yolyn Am Canyon (yol means lammergeier in Mongolian) – The Yoliin am, in other words, lammergeier valley is a beautiful and picturesque canyon located in Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park.

1.Travelers are required to have proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 either, recovery or a negative COVID-19 test certification or any kind of valid documents. Children aged 6-17 must present.
- Proof of vaccination status (for children who are eligible); or
- Proof of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or lateral flow) conducted no more than 72 hours before your tour; or
- Proof of recovery from COVID-19 (a medical clearance certificate from a medical professional) dated no more than 9 months before your tour.
3. Upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar, our driver will pick you up from the airport or train station and take you to your hotel. On this day depending on your arrival time city tour is available. And the last day of your tour our driver will take you to the airport, and a city tour is not included.
4. A single supplement is available if you want to use a room just for yourself. If you want a single supplement please make an inquiry with our booking manager. The single supplement is 70$ per night.
